The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and insurance underwriters require the testing annually to make sure the pumps have the same capacity they were rated for when they were first purchased (1,500 gallons a minute at 150 psi). By making sure the pumps meet the standard, the fire company helps keep residents homeowners insurance rates down. The fire company drafted water from the quarry at Sandy Run Park and flowed it right back in for conservation purposes.
