One of skills that fire company members practice is throwing rope bags to victims caught in flood waters.

But we very much prefer people not become caught in flood waters. When flooding occurs, water inundates the sewer pipes and washes raw sewage out into the surrounding water.

If you out driving this weekend and come across flooded roadways, don't drive through it. You don't know whether the road has been undermined or how deep it is or how fast the water might be moving. Turn around. Don't drown or have to wade or swim through raw sewage to get to safety.
